The upcoming generation has been taught to accept nothing less than instant gratification. Advancements in technology that have paved the way for medical procedures such as liposuction and facelifts have consequently distorted our view of how things really are. For instance, acne is one of those disorders which does not respond rapidly to treatment. For some reason or another, people refuse to accept this fact. If their treatments don’t begin to work within a few days time, they resort to picking at their pimples. If you wish to escape this dreaded condition, popping pimples is not the recommended route. Such behavior can result in drastic consequences.
We engage in squeezing pimples not so much for enjoyment, but rather to eliminate them. Our initial intention is rarely realized, at least not on a long-term basis. Attacking pimples with your fingers forces the acne bacteria deeper into your skin, allowing the lesion to erupt later on. You can also easily spread the bacteria to pores within close range. The gratification you get from squeezing one zit is not worth two new blemishes.
Acne scars are an integral part of the discussion surrounding pimples popping. Scars are sometimes caused by the lesions themselves, but in more mild cases of acne they are caused by the sufferer him or herself. Picking at any pimple, especially inflamed ones situated under the skin can cause some very unsightly scarring. You don’t want to wakeup one morning after completing your acne treatment to find a face full of scars!
There are no instant cures for acne, and as you can see above, squeezing at your acne will only produce temporary improvement. If you are ready to take your treatment seriously, you need to resist temptations to touch your face or to tinker with your pimples. It can take time to overwrite these bad habits. However, there is no better time to get started than the present.
The best tip we can give for quick treatment for an acne spot is to use a small dab of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. This will dry the lesion out and kill any offending bacteria. You can see some rapid improvement with this treatment, however, it will not work effectively if you continue squeezing at your acne.
