The direct marketing company, enlyten, has signed basketball superstar Shaquille O’ Neil to be its celebrity endorser. Of course, they are hoping a shaq-enlyten partnership will boost memberships and sales of the company?s bi-layered nutraceutical film strips.

The Shaq-enlyten partnership wasn’t announced via press release. It was announced by Shaq himself. He didn’t get in touch with his media contacts, and he didn’t even send out a press release. He announced the deal via his twitter account. Welcome to the world of high technology.

The Shaq-enlyten partnership will be great for promoting enlyten?s electrolyte strips, but the company also produces many other kinds of the strips, including appetite suppressing strips and fat burning strips. I suppose Shaq can also promote their melatonin strips, maybe they help him sleep when he?s on the road.

Celebrities don’t like it when their endorsements get them sued, so enlyten, in addition to announcing the Shaq-enlyten partnership, also made a big deal about their 6 doctor Medical Advisory Council. It may not be very nice, but I’m a little bothered that one of their doctors has the first name of “JoeBob.”

The Shaq-enlyten business arrangement will get major media attention on July 31st when the deal goes public. Shaq will be there live in Las Vegas while enlyten officially goes public. It is hard for a 7 foot tall man to not get a lot of attention.

The Shaq-enlyten partnership will bring a tidal wave of interest about the company, and the website urges people to sign up now so they are in place for the big launch. But it is going to take more than the initial burst of traffic to make a successful enlyten business.
