You may not know about lucid dreams yet, but they are real and are an amazing experience. A lucid dream is a dream where you are conscious of the fact that you are dreaming; and best of all, you’re in total control of your dream! You can take the reins and take your dream anywhere that you want to go.

Lucid dreams are noticeably different than the dreams you’re used to having while you sleep; these regular dreams are guided by their own sort of logic and drift along without your input. By contrast, lucid dreams are under your control and seem real, regardless of how far out the events may be.

One way to tell the difference between a regular dream and a lucid dream is to try picking up a book or newspaper in your dream. The vast majority of people think of dreams as something mysterious which is not within our power to control. Whether we have nightmares or very pleasant dreams, not everyone is aware that it is in fact possible to stop these dreams from being purely random. But, what does the term truly mean and how does it work, and what, if any, are the benefits, and is it really possible for anyone to achieve this means of making our nightly journeys into the world of dreaming our own continual series of fascinating adventures? What Is Dream Control?

Dream control, using lucid dreaming, means that not only are you fully aware that you are dreaming, but that you’re also able to control what happens during the dream. While totally asleep, you realize that what seems to be going on is actually a dream and you are solely in control of the events that play out as well as the final outcome.

People who suffer from nightmares frequently can find relief with dream control. Once they learn to use this powerful technique, they can banish their nightmares and get the restful sleep they need.

Common Methods of Inducing Lucid Dreaming

This form of dream control is called mnemonic induction of lucid dreams (or MILD for short), a technique developed by researcher Dr. Stephen LaBerge. Once reminded, you are then in control of your dream. You can then decide what happens in your dream, with your imagination being the only limiting factor.

You can also achieve lucid dreaming by means of keeping a dream diary. Youll write down everything you can remember about your dreams immediate after awakening; this will train you to start remembering your dreams and being able to start using dream control. Youll find that after using this technique for a while, youll be able to replay a recent dream; except this time, youll be in control.

You can beat back those nightmares, go anywhere, do anything and talk to anyone you want in these dreams. There are no limits except for your imagination to your dreams once you have mastered the techniques of dream control.

The experts say do that there is, however, one potential drawback to lucid dreaming, as much like anything in life, too much of a good thing can actually have the opposite effect. The main reason for this being that one of the most valuable aspects of dreaming ‘naturally’ is that it often tell us important things about ourselves that otherwise would have remained hidden forever. So enjoy dreaming lucidly. It really is an amazing experience, but remember to give yourself a few nights off!
