In the UK, Manchester is one of the most major and most populated cities. When he fought the undefeated Floyd Mayweather in what was described as the biggest welterweight fight for years, The Hitman’s career reached its peak and its turning point.
Also from Manchester is Danny Boyle who is known worldwide now for a number of successful Hollywood blockbusters. In the UK Boyle became a great success with the gritty hit ‘Train Spotting’ starring Ewan McGregor but more recently he became a successs worldwide after releasing the visually stunning ’127 Hours’ and ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
Steve Coogan is another gentleman born in Manchester who made it in Hollywood. With performances as Alan Partridge, Coogan originally became a fans favourite in the UK before moving onto a number of high budget Hollywood films. In ‘Tropic Thunder, A Night at the Museum’ and ‘The Other Guys’ Coogan played either supporting or lead roles.
